Alexandra Bell

Alex Bell is an interdisciplinary artist and composer. With formal training as a classical musician, a chartered materials engineer and a sonic artist, her work explores the intersection between culture, arts, technology and science. Originally from Belfast, she has travelled, expeditioned and worked worldwide, often in remote and challenging environments, before settling by the sea in East Lothian. Alex’s practice confronts entrenched ideologies and beliefs. Incorporating sound, composed music, moving image, sculpture, digital technologies and writing, she creates immersive experiences which are designed to challenge perceptions and stimulate empathy for the counterargument.
