Anna Wimbledon

The work presented here is a new project by landscape and portrait painter, Anna Wimbledon, created as she reflects on the relationship between her inner and outer worlds as long-time resident of the East Lothian coast, and daughter of a geologist. In these paintings she finds resonances between the ways solid rocks are nevertheless reshaped by the waters of the North Sea, and her own place in this constant but ever-changing environment.

Breathing in, I feel myself as rock,
Breathing out, I feel solid,
Breathing in, I see myself as water,
Breathing out, I reflect things as they are,
Breathing in, I see myself as space,
Breathing out, I feel free.
