Ian Darling
The inspiration for my work comes from a range of locations, both in Scotland and further afield, predominantly the Western Isles & Scottish Highlands, but basically anywhere which boasts remote landscapes.
All have one thing in common however and that is, wide open spaces, big skies & coastal or rural isolation.
I work predominantly in acrylics and like to use large blocks of colour to create a mood within the paintings and then adding some detail, for example, a lighthouse or a croft in order to draw the viewer into the painting and hopefully instigate a sense of enquiry and reflection about the scene.
