Stuck Inside - Jay Kirkland presents a selection of surreal self-portraits made during the 100 Days Scotland 2023 art challenge while stuck inside with long-covid. She used her extensive wardrobe, countless digital photographs, iPad, phone camera, tripod and remote lens trigger to create one digital portrait a day drawing on myths, legends and contemporary news stories. The resulting 100 digital images reflect dreams, fears and uncertainty in a world shaped by a constant sense of impending doom. By balancing the unsettling with the absurd, Jay’s work reveals humour in response to anxieties induced by our times.
