Clay is a wonderfully versatile material to work with lending itself to anything from fine delicate porcelain forms to crockery, drainpipes and sculpture and more. It also offers an abundance of textural finishes, colour and firing effects. Having retired from teaching all these wonderful techniques I have enjoyed making sculptural pieces, mostly stoneware, some raku. The work is inspired by organic forms; sharp or soft, by textures in nature; accretion, erosion, and with reference to human nature too. This year I am showing a retrospective collection of this work in my garden.
