West Barns Arts
West Barns Arts is a non-profit making artist run organisation that aims to promote awareness and understanding of contemporary art in East Lothian. Based at the Old School, in the village of West Barns, we provide affordable studio space for local artists and a bookable Project Space that is used for exhibitions, classes, workshops and other public events that improve access to the arts for the local community. Since 2004 we have developed and upgraded the West Barns Studios building. By improving the facilities we have, we aim to raise the profile of West Barns Arts as a major venue outwith the main art centres. We are committed to making a substantial contribution to the local area. West Barns Arts is run by voluntary director Susan Mowatt.
Susan Mowatt is a senior lecturer at ECA who has a particular interest in weaving.
John Galloway uses a variety of materials to create models, boxed work and installations.
Paul Keir makes walldrawings, paintings, objects, floorworks and drawings.
Thomas Whittle's practice encompasses photography, painting, drawing, sculpture, performance and writing.
Moira Patience is a jeweller who specialises in bespoke engagement rings and distinctive signature pieces

Opening times: 10am - 5pm
Additional experiences: Freda and John Galloway will be giving demonstrations on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 2:00–3:00 pm each day.
During the demonstrations, they will showcase the materials used to create John’s work, including newspaper, foil, cotton buds, and rubber bands, and will demonstrate the different techniques involved in the creative process.
The demonstrations are suitable for children, and visitors of all ages are warmly welcome to attend.
