Ruth Dagger
Ruth is a pen and ink artist and printmaker specialising in fine detailed drawings and prints depicting some of her favourite wildlife, nature scenes and places.
Ruth's creative journey began in childhood by sketching local landmarks and scenery in East Lothian using graphite and charcoal, later preferring the intricacy and precision of pen and ink.
"My drawings were regularly mistaken for etchings or relief prints and I felt printmaking was a natural progression. I studied etching and mezzotint at Edinburgh Printmakers then continued practicing drypoint etching and mezzotint at home along with teaching myself relief printing. I now run my own printmaking studio in Dunbar High Street creating and teaching drypoint etching, mezzotint, collagraphy and lino printing, my dream job"
Ruth's drawings and prints often begin with photography, a memory or a return to a poem written in childhood.
